As part of the new “MISSION KI Zukunftsfragen” format, an intensive discussion on trustworthy AI took place on November 13, 2024. Chaired by Dr. Katharina Kaufmann, Carolin Anderson opened the evening with insights into how MISSION AI is setting standards for fairer AI.

Moderated by Dr. Katharina Kaufmann, the evening began with Carolin Anderson sharing insights into how MISSION AI is setting new standards for fair and ethical AI.

One focal point of the discussion was the issue of (non-)discrimination. “While debates often center on the potential biases of AI, an equally fascinating question is how AI can help us identify and mitigate human prejudice,” she emphasized.

The use of AI in sensitive fields like medicine was another crucial topic. In such areas, a final human review is essential to ensure informed and ethical decision-making. The synergy between humans and AI was highlighted as a critical factor for success.

Another significant theme was the development of trust standards. Automated audit processes could lower the cost of compliance, enabling SMEs to compete without disadvantage.

MISSION KI would like to give a big thanks to the speakers, including Prof. Gitta Kutyniok (LMU Munich), Tim Vallée (Beyond AI Collective e.V.), and Andrea Martin (IBM), for sharing their valuable insights. Together, they set the stage for making trustworthy AI a reality.
