AI Ethics Forum: Bridging the Gap Between Research and Industry
The EU AI Act presents companies with new challenges – but how can ethical AI principles be implemented in practice? On October 13, 2025 the IQZ at DFKI Kaiserslautern will bring science and industrial practice together: experts from SAP, Merck and the research community will present concrete solutions. Register now and become part of a responsible AI future!
Artificial intelligence already shapes our everyday lives – from personalised recommendations to medical diagnoses. But while technologies are developing rapidly, they also raise increasingly complex ethical questions that need to be clarified. With the EU AI Act, companies are faced with the task of establishing comprehensive compliance structures. At the same time, initial incidents show, for example, that AI biases in recruitment processes can lead to discrimination, that the energy consumption of large AI models could threaten our sustainability goals, and that the transfer of sensitive data to chatbots poses a significant data protection risk. These and other challenges are putting people's trust in AI systems to the test, especially in sensitive areas of application.
On 13 October 2025, the IQZ Kaiserslautern at DFKI invites all those interested in AI from business and research to an exchange that brings together theoretical and practical considerations of AI ethics. With the diverse expertise of our speakers, we will shed light on the current state of research on AI ethics and provide valuable insights into the implementation of ethical principles in large companies such as SAP and Merck. In a panel discussion and various interactive workshop groups, we encourage you to explore the causes, consequences and mitigation strategies of various ethical aspects of AI use, according to your interests.
Programme: More than theoretical discussion
- Keynotes - Four keynotes lay the conceptual foundation – from ethical principles and their corporate implementation to technical assessment methods.
- Panel discussion – In a dialogue between research and industrial application, our experts will discuss relevant issues concerning the ethical use of AI.
- Workshop sessions – In hands-on breakout groups, our experts will guide you through exciting considerations of specific aspects of AI ethics – from bias and governance processes to specific use cases.
Actively shape the discussion topics of the panel talks and workshops by indicating your interests when registering for the workshop!
The target audience for the forum are managers, entrepreneurs, AI developers and data scientists from industry, scientists and AI users. The number of participants is deliberately limited to enable intensive exchange and valuable networking. Ethical AI is not just a compliance issue – it is the key to sustainable innovation and social trust. Be there when the theory and practice of AI ethics come together.
